                                   CULTURE

a)      How does our cultural worldview influence and inform our perception of people from other cultures

Form the time were born we are brought up in a certain culture  and we are expected to follow it.Each cultural has its own beliefs and teachings. As worldview means theory of the world or what people think .Every culture  finds the other culture  very strange or hard to understand. No cultural is bad but its just how people are brought up.Example- muslim men are allowed to have a number of wives and its is normal in their culture  .Since I am form a manage family I find it vey strange because its not allowed in our culture .A man having many wives is  compared to committing a sin. Marriage is  considered very pure and a  bonding between two souls.

b)      How can we be aware of and change our assumptions?

-Everything is there for a reason by trying understanding there reason. We should be aware and change our assumption as everything we assume may not be true.Even if you hear or read something about a certain culture, it’s important to realise that doesn’t mean everyone from that particular background acts/thinks/believes the same thing. Just as not everyone you know has identical beliefs; people who come from different cultural backgrounds aren’t all a certain way either. .We can change our assumption in many ways like interacting with different people form different cultural. Researching and studying about them.Attending their cultural events and traveling to different places.Accepting others believes .

c)      How can we benefit from understanding our own cultural worldview and how it affects our relationships with other cultures?

-By understanding our own culture  we get to know who we actually are and  form where did we actually originate.  I personally feel and especially in the Nepali society if we know our own cultural and we share it with our family  members or any adult  they really get impressed , feel proud and consider us smart and intelligent . By understanding our own cultural we can  come to know what is happening  right  or  wrong in the culture .If it is wrong  we can make the people understand and try to change their minds  for the better as we are the future generation .

Understanding other culture  makes us good person
If we understand others culture  they will eventually understand ours . This can also lead to friendship  we can  share and understand each others culture  more. If everyone starts understanding each other culture  there will be less fighting  and quarreling between people and everyone can live peacefully and united .

LEARNING CAPITALIST CULTURE DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEJAS

Like many communities in the Southwest, North Town has undergone significant cultural and political change since the late 19760s, when the Chicano civil rights movement emerged and challenged the segregated racial order. The resulting racial confrontation between Mexicanos and Anglos created new tensions and problems learning capitalist is an ethnographic study of popular cultural practices that reproduce social inequality. The way in which these youth learn traditional American values through participation in sports, membership in formal and informal social groups, dating, and interactions with teachers in the classroom. Douglas E.Foley shows how the rituals involved in these activities tend to preserve or reproduce class and gender inequalities, even as Mexicanos transform the racial order

CHAPTER 2 -THE GREAT AMERICAN FOOTBALL RITUAL

WINNERS NEVER QUIT AND QUITTERS NEVER WIN

This is my favorite line in this chapter because  it is so true. In real life whether it is a game ,play anything where there are many players few or two individuals only, there is a winer and a loser It applies in any filed, where  there is fair play one has to leave the field with a smile and trophy  and the other person has to shed a few tears and leave with the hope of winning the next time .I find it very motivating and inspiring. This  teaches us a lot of things in life . It is a good example that says only the ones who win are not the winners but also the ones who have accepted their defeat and still haven't given up and  try their best . The most important part is our participation and dedication .Even if someone wins and is too proud and makes others feel bad that makes him not the winer but the biggest loser .While as quitters will  never win as they don't believe in themselves they know that they won't win so they just quit. They don't accept defeat. But if they have the will and try their best they too can surely be winners.

DID I LIKE OR   DISLIKE  THE BOOK

I liked the book because of the contents in it.The students of north town were so interested in sports especially football. The football players were so focused and were so dedicated. The town was typically a sports town .The marching band and the cheerleaders were also so supporting to their teams. But what i din't like about the book is the racial discrimination among the anglos and mexicans .The captains lead the teams but only the anglo's entered first then followed by the mexicans players .While going for out of town trips the anglo's seated them selfs in the front of the bus.

SOCIAL CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY

I have chosen to study anthropology because it prepares the student for a wide range of careers in human service fields. It gives us a deeper knowledge of humankind and ourself. It gives us understanding of world affairs and world problems .We get to learn about people in the past and present and I am very curious to know  about everything that makes us human and learn about that from people all over the world. It gives us good skills for communicating multicultural knowledge to the public. Cultural anthropology explores the diversity of ways that different human societies are organized and construct meaning for their lives.

WHAT INTIMIDATES ME ABOUT IB

what intimidates me about IB is that  it is completely different and more challenging form the ICSE (indian course) which i had been studying for many years .Basically the icse course was related to and focused on only books and we dint really need outer knowledge .Where as ib is so rigorous  and broad  and after doing a lot of research and especially watching videos in youtbe it really creeped me out. Those videos about IB in youtube saying IB will be your biggest mistake and students getting happy because they got three hours of sleep were so scary but i like my mom says nothing difficult in life but we just got to try hard and it will eventually be easy so I got to try my best

WHAT A STUDENT WANTS FORM HIS/HER TEACHER

As being our anthology teacher i hope that you have a good relation ship with all the anthropology students .Trust us .Guide us and be with us  throughout all our difficulties . Motivate  us and make us believe that we too can make a difference . Correct us in a constructive way.I  hope the anthropology class arises interest in all the students that we don't realize the time passing by. Forgiving and understanding.Give us full attention.
