SHAKESPEARE'S IN THE BUSH

-I find this quote very interesting and important .The line which has been spoken by the old man telling the author that all the people are same everywhere .He wants to tell her what the story actually meant . The old man wants to prove that  he knows the actual meaning of the story hamlet and that the author should learn something form him. He is also trying to say that he is wise and elders know everything .

2) Summarize the basic argument of the article? (What is the author’s point of writing this? What is their message?)

-The author wrote this article  in a very interesting way .She is trying to explain us many things in different ways .After reading this article I think she is basically trying to explain us about  culture and the people living in it . That Our mind shapes way we are brought up . She is mostly focusing in what we think and  how we  see the world  and our behavior  are  culturally inherited . The elders in the story had a different belief and dint agree in some parts of  the story told by the author and  they added their own cultural beliefs in the story is an example what the author was trying explain to us that everyone one is the same but its just that our thoughts are different.

3) Is there anything from your own experiences which can help you relate to this? Anytime something similar to this has happened to you?

-No nothing as such which I can directly relate to me has happened yet ,but i have seen a person  trying to explain things to the other person and the other person just  found it very funny and strange . 

CULTURAL RELATIVISM- Mark glazer

        Cultural relativism which teaches us that all culture are of equal and need to be studied from a neutral point of view. After   reading three  pages about Cultural Relativism by Mark Glazer  I find it very good  and think that it should be practiced by all human beings .Even though we  might belong  from  different families have different color, religion , sex , believes  but we all are created by god and we all live in the same planet Mother  Earth . I mostly agree with the line that says that what might be considered   good in one culture might be considered bad  as  form the time  were born our parents ,grandparents teach us about our culture and tradition and tell us that we need to follow it weather  we like it or not . So eventually  when we come across some culture were not   familiar with and it does match with ours  we find it strange or bad .This is felt by everyone as it’s just there in our mind sets .

       This article also speaks about many Anthropologist like France  Boas , Alfred  Kroeber and their thoughts and principle about cultural relativism .So I think we all should follow culture relativism as all cultures deserve the same respect .

The new magical things which are being used in Nepali people's house. 

Long time back Nepal’s people  had to live a difficult life. They had to live in houses made of rocks and mud and their roofs were made of hay or tin they used too have a lot of problem during  monsoon when its raining heavily  or while  strong winds as some times their roofs would get carried away or would leak  .They used to  burn cow dung to make food , grow their own vegetables . They dint have proper  toilets and neither did they have electricity . But now there is such a drastic change as Nepali  people are getting influenced by  western cultural .As they have realized life is so much easier and comfortable to live with these things in our house.Not all the parts of Nepal but mostly people who live in Kathmandu as it’s the capital of Nepal  have or use these things in our daily basis.These things in our house  are so useful. They have made life so much better than before but it has made us lazy too. Everyone now is so dependent in these things.

This thing has the power to entertain

Firstly every house has a magical box  which  shows  colourful   moving pictures and makes  different kinds of sounds .This magical box is so powerful it can attract people to sit in front of it an entire day and  it can also  change our emotions like it can make us laugh ,cry ,sad ,angry  sing and dance .This magical box consist of everything  drama ,romance, music , horror . This magical box teaches us  both good and bad values and we should always try to only learn the good  ones .  But it does  not work every time because of the load shedding   problem in Nepal .

This thing has the power to freeze

There is a big magical  rectangle shaped thing makes us feel like we reach the north pole  It is used to store things  and prevent it  form getting spoilt . The rectangle thing is divided in two parts  . The upper part  basically freezes anything that goes inside it .No insects ever enter this thing if they do the magic freezes it . 

This thing is so power to remove dirt or stains

This magical thing has magical hand which  removes stain . When we put something inside  and add some magical powder .this magical thing it starts spinning round and round.. After the spinning thing stops whatever is inside comes out clean and dry .All mothers love this thing as now they don't have to spoil their hands or nails rubbing things .

 This thing has the power to inflame goods and makes water disappear

No person can live without this thing .It  gives a powerful red flame and a magical pot  is kept on top of it . Different kinds magical potion, ingredients  are added to the magical pot and the results fulfills every human beings stomach. Anything that goes inside the magical pot eithers gets burnt ,boiled , roasted.This magical thing should be handled with care if not might explode . 

 This thing has the power to  wash away .

But the most important thing which is there in all the houses is the place where we sit and give out our waste products .Which has only one button to press .And when we press it  starts raining . It  washes away all the waste products. This thing has to cleaned very properly otherwise it will give an awful smell .

What is cultural relativism ?

- I think its  a belief that all cultural views are equally valid .A society might think some thing is right and other society might think it’s wrong  but still no society can pass judgement to other society .
