1) Select a quotation which (in your) view sums up the key point/s of the text. Copy it accurately and give the page reference. Explain, briefly, why this quote is so important for an understanding of the article/extract.
“But it is clear that the elders of your country have never told you what the story really means. No, don’t interrupt! We believe you when you say your marriage customs are different, or your clothes and weapons. But people are the same everywhere; therefore, there are always witches and it is we, the elders, who know how witches work.”
(Page 11)
-I find this quote very interesting and important .The line which has been spoken by the old man telling the author that all the people are same everywhere .He wants to tell her what the story actually meant . The old man wants to prove that he knows the actual meaning of the story hamlet and that the author should learn something form him. He is also trying to say that he is wise and elders know everything .
-The author wrote this article in a very interesting way .She is trying to
explain us many things in different ways .After reading this article I think she is basically trying to explain us
about culture and the people living in
it . That Our mind shapes way we are brought up . She is mostly focusing in what we think and how we see the
world and our behavior are
culturally inherited . The elders in the story had a different belief
and dint agree in some parts of the
story told by the author and they added
their own cultural beliefs in the story is an example what the author was trying explain to us that everyone one is the same but its just that our thoughts are different.
-No nothing as such which I can directly relate to me has
happened yet ,but i have seen a person trying to explain things to the other person and the other person just found it very funny and strange .
Hey Kelly,
ReplyDeleteThanks for another blog post. Please in the future make sure you have proof read your work for spelling and grammar. In dealing with question number 3, it doesn't just have to be about explaining a different process to someone who doesn't understand, but it could also be maybe having assumptions about what someone would think and then being proven wrong.
Good blog post,
